Congress is protecting riot accused: BJP

New Delhi, January 16

Citing Justice SN Dhingra-led SIT report, the BJP today came down heavily on the Congress by accusing the opposition party of protecting those involved in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and alleged it never showed interest in providing justice to the victims, while its leaders even went to the extent of “justifying” the violence.

Talking to reporters here, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said the report of the SIT, headed by Justice Dhingra, a retired judge of Delhi High Court, had come out with the truth that 1984 riots were “worst kind of genocide” against Sikhs. — TNS
