The Punjab Police were seen providing food packets to the labourers and homeless people. A number of cops deployed at nakas are providing meal to the needy persons.
Mohali Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Kesar Singh said the police teams of the district were putting their best efforts to serve the poor along with maintaining law and order in the region.
“I have contacted some gurdwaras of the region which can serve langar to the homeless. We had also provided Dominos pizzas to the poor people yesterday,” said Kesar.
Yesterday also, a police team of Inspector Manphul Singh, Station House Officer of the Phase 1 police station, provided ration and milk to some persons, who could not get food due to lockdown in the nation.
PCR in charge, Ajay Pathak, also distributed masks and sanitisers among the poor people today.
All set to sanitise slums
Sub Inspector Baljinder Singh Mand said police teams were going to distribute food packets and ration items in the slums of Mohali from tomorrow. “We have made 250 packets of ration items, including flour, sugar and dal. ASP (City) Ashwini Gotiyal will also join us tomorrow. Along with food distribution, we will also sanitise slums by spraying,” Baljinder added.
