Cops nab two robbers with pistol in city

Amritsar, January 27

The city police have nabbed two robbers, identified as Sanjay Kumar and Sahil Kumar of Indira Colony, Jhabal Road. The police seized a country-made pistol and a sharp weapon from their possession.

According to police, they had been evading arrest in a robbery case in which they had looted a goldsmith of Sri Hargobindpur in the Batala police district. The police also recovered imitative jewellery robbed from the goldsmith.

Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa, in-charge CIA staff, in a press conference here on Monday, said that they had been holding a checkpoint at Jhabal road when they intercepted the duo travelling on a bike. The preliminary interrogation revealed that Sanjay Kumar and Sahil Kumar along with another accomplice Sukhdev Singh of Sarli village in Vairowal in Tarn Taran had committed the loot on December 11, 2019. Sukhdev had another country-made weapon with him.

They had two criminal cases against them at the Gate Hakima police station and were absconding in these cases, the police said. Sukhdev Singh was wanted in a murder case and raids were on to arrest him. The duo were produced in the court and brought on police remand for further investigations. — TNS
