Jammu, September 25

As many as 1,218 new Covid positive cases (642 in the Jammu division and 576 in Kashmir), have been reported during the past 24 hours, thus taking the total number of cases in J&K to 69,832.

Also 21 deaths have been reported (11 in the Jammu division and 10 in Kashmir).

Moreover, 1,478 more patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals (805 in the Jammu division and 673 in Kashmir).

The official media bulletin issued on Friday said out of 69,832 positive cases, 19,170 are active, 49,557 had recovered and 1,105 died (294 in the Jammu division and 811 in Kashmir). The bulletin said out of 15,13,224 test results available, 14,43,392 samples had tested negative.

So far, 5,61,149 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation, which include 14,482 persons in home quarantine, 19,170 in isolation and 48,752 under home surveillance. Besides, 4,77,640 persons have completed their surveillance period.

Operation of 4 chemist shops suspended

  • The J&K Drug Controller has suspended the operation of four chemist firms in the Bakshi Nagar area of Jammu for selling Covid management items at inflated prices to the needy.
  • During a surprise check, it was found that the firms were following unfair trade practices.
  • A meeting of the Jammu Chemists Association was convened where members were told to sell Covid-related items at genuine rates and punitive action would be taken against the defaulter firms.
