Jammu, September 13

With 1,686 new cases, 875 from the Jammu province and 811 from Kashmir Valley, during the past 24 hours, the Covid count in Jammu and Kashmir reached 54,096.

On the third successive day, J&K reported more than 1,500 positive cases as aggressive testing had been started across the UT.

Meanwhile, J&K reported 14 deaths, eight from Jammu and six from the Kashmir division, during the same period, taking the death toll to 878.

A total of 452 more patients recovered and were discharged from various hospitals, 146 from the Jammu division and 306 from the Valley.

According to the official bulletin issued on Sunday evening, out of the 54,096 positive cases, 17, 481 were active positive, 35,735 had recovered and 878 had died, 151 in the Jammu division and 727 in Kashmir Valley.

The bulletin further said that out of the 12, 31, 698 test results available, 11,77,602 samples had tested negative.

Till date, 5,23,018 travellers and persons in contact with the suspected cases had been enlisted for observation which included 41,945 persons in home quarantine, including facilities operated by the government, 17,481 in isolation and 54,279 under home surveillance. Besides, 4,08,435 persons had completed their surveillance period.

The bulletin said of the total 54,096 positive cases in J&K, 7,707 had been reported as travellers, while 46,389 as others. The bulletin said that the break-up represented districts from where the patients had been traced.
