18 deaths, 1,235 new cases in J & K

Eighteen Covid deaths, seven from the Jammu region and 11 from the Kashmir Valley, were reported in the past 24 hours, taking the toll to 1,042.

With 1,235 new cases, 736 from the Jammu division and 499 from the Kashmir valley, during the same period, the virus caseload in J&K reached 66,261.

Meanwhile, 1,619 patients, 880 from the Jammu province and 739 from the Valley, recovered and were discharged from hospitals across the UT in this period.

According to an official bulletin issued on Tuesday evening, out of the 66,261 positive cases, 21,485 were active positive, 43,734 had recovered and 1,042 had died, 253 in the Jammu division and 789 in the Kashmir province.

The bulletin further said that out of the 14,36,409 test results available, 13,70,148 samples had tested negative.

Meanwhile, Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo, today held an interaction with doctors and para-medical staff at Government Medical College, Jammu.

During the interaction, problems faced by the doctors and the para-medical staff, besides the measures to be taken for strengthening the infrastructure in the hospitals for better patient care were discussed.

Dulloo said recruitment had been made to address the manpower shortage at all levels and oxygen plants had been sanctioned for all hospitals that would start working in next four-five months.
