Mohali, August 11

Two more fatalities were witnessed taking the Covid-19 death toll up to 23 in Mohali district today. Besides, 67 fresh infections have pushed the tally up to 1,452.

The deceased have been identified as a 28-year-old woman of Sunny Enclave in Kharar, who died at the PGI, and a 62-year-old man of Manakpur village.

Dr Harmandeep Kaur, District Epidemiologist and Nodal Officer, said the 28-year-old patient had damaged heart, kidneys and lungs and was under treatment at the PGI. The 62-year-old man was also suffering from diabetes and hypertension and was under treatment at Ivy Hospital.

Fresh infections were reported from Baltana (five), Padiala village (eight), Bhabat (three), Kharar (nine), Mohali city (17), Sohana (two), Dhakoli (three) and Aerocity (two). The others are from Jangpur, Balongi, Jujhar Nagar, Zirakpur, Nada village, Derabassi, Nayagaon, Bairmajra, Lohgarh and Kurali.

Meanwhile, 25 patients have been cured and discharged from hospitals. There are 689 active cases in the district.
