4 fall prey in Ludhiana; 104 +ve

After five continuous days, the number of Covid positive patients in the region has again gone past 100.

Today, 104 persons tested positive for Covid, while four in the district fell prey to the virus. Today, 13 patients were on ventilator support.

Those who lost their lives today were all males. Three of the patients were suffering from both hypertension and diabetes.

A 63-year-old male who lost his life today belonged to Kakowal Road and was admitted to Civil Hospital. A 57-year-old male admitted to the DMCH, a 75-year-old male from Tajpur Road and 54-year-old man from Tanda Kalian, admitted to Fortis Hospital, succumbed to the virus today.

On October 6, 85 persons had tested positive, while next day, the count rose to 114. For the next five days, the number of people testing positive was below 100. On October 8, there were 89 persons who tested positive, followed by 98 on October 9 and 43 on October 10. On October 11, the people who tested positive were 91 and on October 12, those who tested positive were 61.

Today, 36 persons each were referred from flu corners and OPDs. Out of those who tested positive, 13 were contacts of positive people, while 19 were being traced.

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma said a total of 104 new patients from Ludhiana district had tested positive in the past 24 hours.

He further said that till date, a total of 3,31,893 samples had been taken, out of which the reports of 3,30,399 samples had been received. Of these, 3,08,554 samples were found negative, while the reports of 1,494 samples were pending.

He said now, the total number of patients related to Ludhiana was 19,339.

He said till date, 45,528 persons had been kept under home quarantine in the district and the number of such persons was 1,707. Today, 111 persons were sent for home quarantine.

He said whenever the district administration and the Health Department Ludhiana find any positive or suspected coronavirus patient, his/her samples are immediately sent for testing. Similarly, 3,625 samples of the suspected patients were sent for testing today and their results were expected shortly.
