Shimla, July 31
With 58 fresh Covid cases today, the tally of the infected persons in the state has reached 2,564, including 12 deaths.
Even though there has been a decline in the total number of cases, the detection of 26 new cases in the Baddi-Barotiwala industrial belt continues to remain a cause of worry.
Besides, nine cases were reported in Una, eight each in Mandi and Kangra, three in Sirmaur and two each in Chamba and Hamirpur.
As many as 28 more persons tested positive for Covid in Solan district today.
Those who contracted the infection included an operating theatre assistant and a doctor. They had conducted the delivery of a woman at the Nalagarh Community Health Centre.
Medical Officer, Health, Solan, Dr NK Gupta said two women aged 55 and 35 years and a seven-year-old girl had tested positive. Besides, 10 direct contacts of positive patients from Basanti Bagh and Phase III area of the housing board colony at Baddi and from a pharma unit were found infected.
Seven inter-state travellers from various parts of Baddi, including Gurumarja, Sikka Hotel and Steel Bird industry, also tested positive. Eight others, who were randomly tested, and another person suffering from influenza-like illness were also found infected.
Seven persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Kangra district today. They included a 20-year-old Army man from Bandla village, near Palampur, with travel history to Leh.
56-yr-old first casualty in Una
Una: A 56-year-old man from Badheda village in Haroli subdivision, who died of a heart attack at the PGI on Thursday, tested positive for Covid. The patient was admitted to a Una district hospital after he complained of uneasiness in the chest. OC
14 Bharmour villages sealed
Bharmour: With 55 persons coming in contact with a 28-year-old newly married woman from Lahal village in Bharmour, who has tested Covid-positive, SDM Manish Soni on Friday sealed 14 villages falling in Khani gram panchayat and declared the area as a containment zone. OC
