Senior BJP leader Prakash Javadekar on Friday slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for using the word ‘nautanki’ (drama) in reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Responding to Congress leader Gandhi’s scathing questions and claims on India’s vaccination plan, Javadekar said that India will get 216 crore new vaccines by December.

“India will be able to vaccinate more than 108 crore people with the help of these vaccines,” Javadekar said, asking Gandhi to not spread fear among people on this issue.

Javadekar said India is the second country to carry out the fastest and largest vaccinations.

The BJP leader said that at a time Prime Minister Narendra Modi is fighting Covid with people of the country, the use of words like ‘nautanki’ is an insult of the country and its people.

“We will not use such words for him (Rahul Gandhi) because people have stopped his nautanki long time back,” he said.

Javadekar also took a dig at Gandhi saying that people understand that his press conference had been conducted according to the ‘toolkit’ prepared by the Congress party.

Asking Gandhi to not spread fear about third, fourth and fifth waves, Javadekar said that India’s vaccination programme is going on well and till December 2021, 216 crore vaccines will be given.

“Till December more than 100 crore people will receive vaccines,” he said.

Gandhi on Friday said that the current state of vaccination “will guarantee a third Covid-19 wave”, and that Prime Minister Modi and the government have not understood the disease yet, which was evolving fast and nor do they have an inoculation strategy to prevent the future waves.
