Ludhiana East subdivision has been affected the most by Covid-19. The highest number of positive cases and deaths has been reported from here till now.

The Ludhiana East segment has recorded 1,601 positive cases and 60 deaths, followed by Ludhiana West with 1,492 positive cases and 35 deaths. Both these subdivisions are worst affected by the virus.

Today, 78 more people tested positive and eight lost their lives to the virus. Of these, 51 cases were reported from Ludhiana West, 24 from Ludhiana East and one each from Jagraon and Raikot. Jagraon subdivision now has 113 confirmed cases, Raikot has 55, Khanna 147, Samrala 53 and Payal has 56 positive cases.

Eight persons who succumbed to Covid today had co-morbidities. The fatalities include a 59-year-old resident of New Sundar Nagar, a 69-year-old person from Raikot, both admitted to Rajindra Hospital, Patiala; a 70-year-old resident of Salem Tabri and a 60-year-old patient from Azad Nagar, both admitted to the DMCH; a 57-year-old resident of Harkiratpura, a 67-year-old patient admitted to Fortis, a 71-year-old patient of SPS Hospital and a resident of Urban Estate who was admitted to SPS Hospital.

Of positive cases, 24 are those with influenza-like illness, 36 are contacts of Covid patients, nine are healthcare workers and one is a domestic traveller.
