Virus claims 7 more lives in Ludhiana

Covid-19 has claimed seven more lives in the district. As many as 185 fresh cases were reported today.

The Health Department confirmed 218 cases, including 185 from Ludhiana and 33 from other districts or states. Besides, the department confirmed that 12 persons, including seven from Ludhiana and one each from Muktsar, Gurdaspur, Bathinda, Fazilka and Jammu & Kashmir died of virus in the district today.

Those who succumbed to virus from Ludhiana district include a 61-year-old woman from New Star City Colony, a 37-year-old man from Mohi village, a 45-year-old man from Dhandari Khurd, a 60-year-old man from Mundian Kalan, a 72-year-old man from Partap Nagar, a 65-year-old woman from Guru Gobind Singh Road and a 60-year-old man from Doraha. A total of 702 persons from the district have died of virus.

Of 185 fresh cases reported today, 18 persons were contacts of Covid patients, 58 reported at OPDs and 58 visited flu corners influenza-like illness. They include nine policemen, five healthcare workers, three travelers, one pregnant woman and one under-trial.

The Civil Surgeon, Dr Rajesh Bagga, said a total of 15,033 (87.61%) patients have recovered to date, he added.

A total of 5,636 samples were collected today. As many as 41 patients, 21 from Ludhiana and 20 from other districts, are on ventilator support in the city hospitals at present.
