With five more deaths, the Covid-19 toll in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) reached 143 today.

36 cases in Ladakh

  • Ladakh on Tuesday reported 36 new cases of Covid.

  • According to Health Department officials, 36 persons tested positive in Leh district, taking the total number of positive cases to 1,041 in the UT.

  • Seven patients in home isolation at Leh and 17 patients in home isolation at Kargil were discharged.

A total of 256 new cases were reported during the past 24 hours and 81 patients cured and recovered from different hospitals.

According to the official bulletin issued on Tuesday evening, 256 new were reported, 74 in the Jammu division and 182 in the Kashmir division, taking the total number of cases in J&K to 8,931.

Those tested positive included Army personnel and BSF men posted in twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri.

“Six Army personnel and a BSF jawan, among seven, tested positive for Covid in Poonch. All had travel history and were already in quarantine. Total cases 132 now with 114 recoveries, 17 active cases and one death in Poonch district,” DC, Poonch, Rahul Yadav, tweeted.

“Sixteen persons, including five BSF jawans posted in Rajouri district of J&K and two Army personnel on leave, tested positive on Tuesday. Two Indian Reserve Police (IRP) personnel posted in Rajouri, seven civilians also tested positive. Of these seven positive civilians, three tested positive from Sunderbani amongst random/target testing and one from red zone Peeri”, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Thakur Sher Singh, tweeted.

With these more five deaths, the toll has reached 143 in J&K — 129 in the Valley and 14 in the Jammu division.

According to the bulletin, of the total 8,931 positive cases in J&K, 2,586 have been reported as travellers, while 6,345 as others. Srinagar district today tested highest-ever 61 positive cases followed by 30 in Baramullah.
