Zirakpur, April 30

Thirty persons working in a multinational owned and operated wholesale store on the Chandigarh-Ambala road in Zirakpur were found Covid positive today. The wholesale store though remained operational.

The Health Department and the district administration are yet to take a decision on turning the store into a containment zone. In all, 40 persons were found positive in the cluster.

Health Department officials said the decision has been scheduled for tomorrow as “it is a big store”. Moreover, “no body resides there”, they said.

The grocery store owners in the Zirakpur area have been complaining repeatedly about the restrictions being imposed on them by the administration and letting warehouses and wholesale stores to work normally.

Meanwhile, health officials said cases were frequently being reported from Saini Vihar, Govind Vihar, Anand Vihar and other colonies in the Baltana area. — TNS
