Ludhiana, December 12

As the Railways is delaying the process to start the construction of a portion of railway overbridge (ROB) under its jurisdiction on the missing link 2 stretch, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal will take up the matter with the Punjab Chief Secretary. The GLADA has recently started the construction work of approach roads to the railway overbridge under the missing link 2 project.

Sources said the Railways had raised some issues related to outstanding licence fee of around Rs 83 crore against some other departments under the Punjab Government. The Railways wanted that these state government departments concerned deposit the outstanding fee first, sources said.

“GLADA officials informed that the tender for the Railways’ portion of the ROB has not been floated. The GLADA officials have been asked to write a detailed note in this regard. I will intimate the Punjab Chief Secretary and PWD secretary so that they can take up the matter with the Railways ,” said Pradeep Kumar Agrawal.

The Deputy Commissioner today conducted a meeting with officials of the PWD and GLADA about various projects. A road safety activist, Rahul Verma, who was present in the meeting, said the matter was discussed to rectify the engineering fault of Phullanwal Chowk on Pakhowal Road and alignment of Dehlon Bypass. Besides, the discussion was also conducted on Southern Bypass project as work to construct the slip road from Pakhowal Road towards Jawaddi is hanging fire due to shortage of funds.
