Major Gurcharan Singh appointed Chairman, Punjab Ex-Servicemen Corporation

Major (Dr) Gurcharan Singh (retd), assumed charge as Chairman of the Punjab Ex-Servicemen Corporation (PESCO) on Wednesday. A veteran with 21 years of service in the Army, he has operational experience in counter-insurgency and jungle warfare.
After retirement, he has remained actively associated with initiatives aimed at social welfare and support for the ex-servicemen community, reflecting his continued commitment to nation-building and public service.
On taking over his new assignment, Major Singh affirmed his commitment to further strengthening welfare measures, employment opportunities and support systems for ex-servicemen and their families across the state.
Punjab Cabinet Ministers Mohinder Bhagat, Laljit Singh Bhullar, Hardeep Singh Mundian, Tarunpreet Singh Sond and Dr Balbir Singh were present at the taking over ceremony in Chandigarh, along with PESCO Managing Director, Major General Harmandeep Singh (retd) and other senior defence officers and civilian dignitaries.
PESCO is a Punjab Government undertaking that works towards the welfare of ex-servicemen, war widows, disabled service personnel and their dependents.
It endeavours to find post-retirement employment to Punjab domicile ex-servicemen in the vicinity of their hometowns and utilise their vast experiences in providing different services to various institutes of the state government and the corporate sector.
