‘Read about Shaheed-e-Azam to pay true tribute’

Kashmiris are peace loving people and need development, said Major General (retired) Sheonan Singh, nephew of Bhagat Singh, during a function held on the Martyrdom Day of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. Delhi Archives had organised the function. 

“I was posted in Kashmir Valley for 12 years to fight militancy. We have not developed the Valley for the people of Kashmir. We have constructed roads so that Army could fight and suppress Kashmiris,” said Sheonan Singh, who was the chief guest. 

When asked about stone throwers in the Valley, he said they were in Delhi as well and one should have the eyes to see them.

The function was organised on the completion of one year of Bhagat Singh Archives and Resource Centre. Sheonan and his cousin Abhay Singh Sandhu released a brochure of Delhi Archives. The centre has 300 books on Bhagat Singh meant for research scholars and others.

He said to understand Bhagat Singh, people should read and think and then have their own idea. This will be a true tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, who was hanged to death on March 23, 1931. 

Abhay Singh, another nephew of Bhagat Singh, said the country had old system of governance and laws. There was a need to change that system and for that, youngsters should come forward.
