The anti-human trafficking unit (AHTU) of North-East district police reunited 13 missing children with their families in the last two days, said police.

During counselling of the victims, it was revealed that five among the 13 children used to study in Delhi and Mumbai from where they had fled, two belonged from Bihar, two from Jharkhand and one from UP, he said. They had fled to return to their homes but got lost in their way.

Moreover, a child from Haryana had fled away from his house around one-and-a-half month ago and had come to Delhi, DCP of North-East District Atul Thakur said. On counseling, he could only tell the whereabouts of his mother’s workplace — in Charkhi Dadri (Haryana). With the help of this, the police was able to locate his mother and the two were reunited.

Dedicated teams of the AHTU visited two homes — Sanskar Ashram in Dilshad Garden and Open shelter home in Paharganj, Delhi. Their visit resulted in the reunion of the 13 missing children, the police said.

The AHTU teams have reunited 138 children with their families. The missing children were aged between 2 and 18 years and hailed from various states, including UP, Haryana, Bihar. Most of the children were from poor socio-economic background.
