A person has been arrested, and another is on the run after one of them pulled out a country-made pistol on a petrol pump attendant who had asked them to wait in line at the petrol pump here, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place at the Kadrabad petrol pump on Saturday night, when the accused, Sachin, along with another person, Akash, arrived there on a two-wheeler and asked on-duty attendant Akash Dixit to fill his vehicle first, disregarding others who were already standing in a long queue at the pump.

This led to an argument with Dixit. Shortly after, the accused began hurling abuses. When Dixit protested, Sachin pulled out a pistol and aimed it at him, threatening to kill him if he didn't fuel the vehicle immediately.

To incite terror, Sachin tried to fire in the air, but the bullet got stuck in the barrel of the country-made pistol. Seeing this, the bystanders caught the accused and beat him up, while Akash managed to flee. Following a call to 'Dial 112,' the police arrived at the spot.

Based on Dixit's complaint, a case was registered.

During interrogation, Sachin claimed he found the pistol lying near a cremation ground in Partapur, Meerut. He admitted to carrying the weapon to flaunt his "influence" and committed the act at the petrol pump for the same reason.
