2 killed, one hurt in separate crime incidents

Two persons were killed and one was injured in separate crime incidents here, officials said on Friday.

In the first incident, a person was stabbed to death while another suffered injuries in a suspected assault in Southwest Delhi.

The police received a call from Safdarjung Hospital regarding the admission of two persons with stab injuries. During investigation, it was found that Kushal, a resident of Shastri Market, and Karthik were brought to the hospital around 7:15 am.

Kushal succumbed to the injuries, while Karthik is undergoing treatment. A case has been registered at South Campus police station under Sections 103(1), 109 and 3(5) of the BNS, an official said.

Kushal was working as a housekeeping staffer at a play school in Rajouri Garden, while Karthik used to work as a housekeeper at a private company in Okhla, the official added.

In another incident, a youth, identified as Suraj, was stabbed to death in the Welcome area of northeast Delhi.

The Delhi Police have arrested the accused, Shadab, alias Suheb (27), a resident of the same locality, in this regard.

During interrogation, Suheb allegedly confessed that he stabbed the victim after an argument escalated between them, an officer said.

On his instance, the weapon of offence, a knife, has been recovered from him. A case has been registered and further investigation was underway, the police said.

Meanwhile, a man was found dead in a drain in the Khajuri Khas area of northeast Delhi on Friday morning, the police said.

After getting information, a police team rushed to the spot, where the body of a man believed to be around 35 years old was found, they said.

“A forensic team was called to the spot to examine the spot and collect evidence that could establish the identity of the deceased and ascertain the cause of the death,” a police officer said.

He said after completing preliminary formalities at the spot, the body was sent to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital for post-mortem examination. The police have initiated further investigation under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

“We are checking CCTV footage, missing person records and circulating photographs of the deceased to nearby police stations to ascertain his identity,” the officer said.
