Three members of a family, including a three-year-old boy, were killed and another child suffered serious injuries after the car they were travelling in met with an accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway ahead of the Hilalpur toll plaza in Nuh district.
The police suspect that the car driver might have fallen asleep while driving, leading to the accident.
The deceased have been identified as Naveen (42), his wife Madhuri (40) and their three-year-old son Vihansh. Krishna Soni, another son of the couple, is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
According to the police, the family was returning to Gurugram on Sunday night after attending a family wedding in Jaipur. The car driver, Naveen, suddenly dozed off. As a result, the driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed a divider. The car flipped several times due to speeding.
The victims were shifted to a private hospital in Sohna where Vihansh was declared dead on arrival. Madhuri also succumbed to her injuries during treatment on Monday. Naveen, who suffered serious injuries (42), also breathed his last during treatment late on Monday night. Krishna is still undergoing treatment at a hospital.
“The bodies have been handed over to the family members after postmortem examination. Further action is being taken,” said Inspector Vinod Kumar, SHO of the Rojka Meo police station.
