30,000 people, film stars, industrialists: BJP plans mega event for oath-taking ceremony
Even though the name of Delhi's new Chief Minister has yet to be finalised, preparations for a grand oath-taking ceremony at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi have already begun.
The ceremony is most likely scheduled for February 20.
The swearing-in ceremony may take place around 4:30 p.m. and is expected to be attended by top BJP leaders, including chief ministers from BJP-ruled states, sources said.
The BJP legislative party meeting, which was initially scheduled for Monday, was postponed and is now likely to be held on Wednesday, when the party is expected to finalise its chief ministerial candidate.
On Monday, workers were seen cleaning the ground, roads, and pavements at Ramlila Maidan, which can accommodate around 30,000 people. The boundary walls also received a fresh coat of paint.
According to party sources, the guest list for the ceremony goes beyond politicians, with over 50 film stars and industrialists likely to attend the grand event.
"Diplomats from major countries have also been invited. Farmers' leaders from Delhi and beneficiaries of central government schemes will also attend the event," the source said. In addition, spiritual leaders like Baba Ramdev, Swami Chidananda, and Baba Bageshwar Dhirendra Shastri will represent the country's religious leaders at the momentous event.
The event may also include musical performances by some noted celebrities, which could include singer Kailash Kher. The BJP won 48 of the 70 seats in the Assembly elections, ending its 27-year-long deadlock in Delhi.
