A 31-year-old woman died after falling off the train while traveling by standing at the gate of the overcrowded Shalimar Express. The Government Railway Police (GRP) handed over the body to the family after a postmortem on Saturday and has launched an investigation.
According to the GRP, the deceased woman was identified as Anchal Tyagi, a resident of Maksudpur, Noida. She reportedly visited her brother in Bhangrola village in Gurugram on February 9. On Friday, she boarded the Shalimar Express from Gurugram railway station with her mother Mamta to go to Meerut. The train was very crowded, so she stood at the gate of the train’s compartment.
“When the train changed tracks near the Chauma gate between Gurgaon and Bijwasan railway stations, she was jolted and fell on the track. She died on the spot. We handed over the body to kin after the postmortem while a further probe is underway,” said a senior police officer of GRP.
