62-year-old man held for raping 16 year-old girl

A 62-year-old man has been arrested from Paharganj for raping a 16-year-old girl at a hotel.

As per police, the girl had a small fight with her parents on January 11. After which, she left her home in anger to Ghaziabad Railway Station, where at night, the old man, Satish, spotted her alone and started talking to her. He introduced himself as a resident of Delhi to the girl and asked her to accompany him. When she refused, the old man insisted reasoning the cold weather and the girl went along with him. He took her to a hotel at Paharganj, stayed with her there and allegedly raped her. Next day, he took her to show the zoo here, from where he fled away leaving her alone. She started crying searching for him. Not finding anyone, she approached the nearby police personnel, which is how police learnt about the entire incident. On her statement, FIR was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the old man.

The police accompanied the girl to the hotel, took the CCTV footage of the hotel and identified the man. After constituting teams, they nabbed the accused from Paharganj, added the police. — TNS
