87 flights cancelled at IGI airport amid West Asia crisis
People advised to verify flight status before leaving for airport
A total of 87 flights were affected at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Monday due to airspace closures as the conflict intensifies in the West Asia.
According to an official, a total of 37 departures and 50 arrivals had been cancelled at the Palam Airport.
On Sunday, the Delhi airport recorded cancellation of at least 100 international flights.
Officials said passengers should check their flight status prior to proceeding to airports. “Passengers are advised to check their flight status with the airlines and remain in close coordination with them for any assistance. The Ministry of Civil Aviation is in close coordination with the airlines, airport operators and other stakeholders to proactively monitor the situation and facilitate necessary passenger support,” said an official.
The official said: “Senior officials have been deployed at major airports to manage diversions, passenger movement and congestion as terminals operate under sustained pressure.”
