Upping the ante on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash, the AAP today alleged the former was “shielding” officials against whom complaints of “corruption” were filed by a senior doctor of a city government-run hospital here.
The renewed attack on Prakash came days after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal directed his deputy Manish Sisodia, to gather evidence from doctor, who is working at Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital, in connection with serious allegations of corruption against Prakash and several past chief secretaries.
Addressing reporters here today, AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said the Chief
Secretary should explain why no action was taken against the corrupt officials, despite at least 10 complaints from the doctor alleging that inaction amounts to “covering up” the corruption on the orders of the LG and the BJP.
By not taking action the Chief Secretary has protected his interests, the MP added.
AAP spokesperson Dilip Pandey claimed that an inquiry was ordered by the Vigilance Department on one of the complaints of the doctor but no action came.
“The HoD of the said hospital with all evidence came out in open about the corruption and role of Chief Secretary but the LG instead of investigating the case is sitting on the file to end up the case,” said Pandey.
In the matter, the senior doctor had accused Prakash of "accepting bribe" to stop the inquiry into the case against officials allegedly embroiled in corruption. Kejriwal yesterday directed Sisodia to look into the allegations levelled by the doctor.
"Directed Manish Sisodia, Minister (Vigilance), to meet the complainant and get all evidence (sic)," Kejriwal tweeted.
The Chief Secretary had been at the centre of the series of confrontation between the AAP governemnt and IAS officers of the Delhi government following an alleged assault on him in February at Kejriwal's official residence.
