AAP flays BJP for ‘insulting Punjabis’
The AAP on Tuesday slammed the BJP for what it called an “insult to Punjab and Punjabis”.
AAP claimed that BJP candidate Parvesh Verma suggested that vehicles from Punjab entering Delhi should be checked, labeling Punjabis as a potential “threat to national security.”
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann wrote on X, “Listen to this statement of BJP. This is extremely dangerous, worrying and insulting to Punjabis. They are marking vehicles with Punjab number plates and asking why are vehicles from Punjab roaming in Delhi? They are saying as if Punjabis are a threat to the security of the country.”
Mann said countless Punjabis had sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom struggle. “Questioning their patriotism for your dirty politics is not only insulting but also unacceptable. Today, every Punjabi is feeling pained and hurt by this statement,” he said.
