New Delhi, February 21
The government will deploy mohalla marshals and set up an SC/ST women welfare cell in Delhi. The decision was taken at meeting held between Delhi Cabinet Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam and Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Chief Swati Maliwal on Friday.
Various works done by the Delhi Commission for Women in the past three years were discussed. While women safety is a part of 10-point agenda, the government is keen to go beyond and set up a special board for transgenders and offer protection to members of the community.
The minister asked the DCW to set up a special SC/ST women welfare cell, which would work for the welfare of women and girls from the community.
“The plan is to set up mohalla marshals and strengthen mahila panchayats,” said Rajendra Pal Gautam.
