AAP takes dig on PM’s ‘vote kar’ call

NEW DELHI:The AAP today took a swipe on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his #VoteKar call — an online outreach exercise to encourage people to ensure that more and more voters participate in this Lok Sabha elections — saying that the only innovative voter awareness campaign the country needs now is to stop the mass deletion of names of voters allegedly being done by the BJP.

The AAP today took a swipe on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his #VoteKar call — an online outreach exercise to encourage people to ensure that more and more voters participate in this Lok Sabha elections — saying that the only innovative voter awareness campaign the country needs now is to stop the mass deletion of names of voters allegedly being done by the BJP.

“Irony has no bounds. Modi says '#VoteKar' while the BJP gets voters deleted from Delhi's voter list. How can voters practice their voting right if their name is not in the list?” the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP asked.

The Prime Minister on Sunday exhorted people to come forward with details about initiatives being run to enhance awareness among voters.

“If you are undertaking any innovative voter awareness campaign, do share details using #VoteKar. Together, we will ensure maximum Indians exercise their franchise,” PM Modi tweeted.

The AAP claimed the recent appeal by PM Modi through his Twitter handle, as part of a voter awareness campaign ahead of the Lok Sabha elections only exposes his “double standard”.

The party has been alleging that the BJP’s hand behind voter deletions in Delhi claiming more than 30 lakh voters' names have been deleted from the electoral roll and those deleted mostly include traders, poorvanchalis and minorities, all of whom have serious reasons for disenchantment with the BJP.

The AAP also took a dig at the BJP over the promotional T-shirts with ‘Namo Again’ or Modi inscribed on them. “Perhaps, the Prime Minister of India's twitter is flooded with purchase orders for merchandise,” said the party.
