Accountability govt’s biggest achievement, says Sachdeva
Accuses ex-Dy CM Sisodia of ‘shedding crocodile tears’
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Friday congratulated the BJP-led Delhi Government for completing one year in office, claiming that the administration had restored accountability, improved civic services and fulfilled key welfare promises made to the people of the Capital.
Addressing a press conference, Sachdeva said the people of Delhi had “resolved to sweep away filth and create a rangoli of development with the colours of the lotus”, a mandate he said was fulfilled on February 8, 2025, when the BJP returned to power in the city after 27 years.
He expressed pride that the government led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta kept its grievance redressal system open to citizens at all times.
Terming accountability the government’s biggest achievement, Sachdeva said the BJP administration remained answerable to the public on every issue.
He accused the previous Congress and Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP governments of crippling Delhi’s sewer infrastructure through alleged scams, resulting in frequent waterlogging. He claimed that the situation had been brought under control within the BJP government’s first year, with visible improvement during the last monsoon.
Highlighting infrastructure and welfare measures, the Delhi BJP president said nearly 1,000 new electric buses had been added to the city’s public transport fleet in one year, reversing what he described as years of neglect. He also said over 100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs were now functioning in Delhi, offering comprehensive primary healthcare, in contrast to what he termed the “scam-ridden” Mohalla Clinics of the previous regime.
Sachdeva said the government had launched 25 new Atal Canteens a day earlier, taking the total to 71, with plans to cross 150 soon. He said fulfilling the guarantee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Delhi Government had announced free LPG cylinders for poor families from Holi, and increased assistance under the maternity scheme.
The BJP leader also launched a sharp attack on former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, questioning his reemergence at a press conference after nearly a year. Accusing Sisodia of “shedding crocodile tears”, Sachdeva alleged that he had acted like a collection inspector during his tenure in Delhi and was now exploiting people in Punjab.
