Acquittal of Kejriwal, Sisodia a ‘triumph of truth’, says AAP
Case was baseless, politically motivated: MP Sanjay Singh
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders on Friday welcomed the Delhi court’s acquittal of AAP national convener and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the Delhi excise policy case, describing the verdict as a vindication of truth and integrity.
Expressing his satisfaction over the Rouse Avenue Court decision in a post on X, Manish Sisodia wrote: “Satyamev Jayate. Today once again we feel proud of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s farsighted vision and the Constitution he gave us. Despite the entire party of Modi ji and all agencies making every effort to prove us dishonest, it has been established today that Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia are staunchly honest.”
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann also lauded the judgment. In a post of X, he said: “Truth always triumphs. AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia have been acquitted by the Delhi court in the liquor case. This decision of the court has brought the truth before everyone. With time, the truth of all other cases will also come out. Inquilab Zindabad.”
AAP Delhi State president Saurabh Bharadwaj reflected on the personal ordeal faced by the leaders and their families. “Arvind Kejriwal rose from a small village in Haryana to study at the IIT, later clearing the Indian Revenue Service exam and serving as an Assistant Commissioner in the Income Tax Department. He left a well-paying job to work for the people in the jhuggis of Sundar Nagri. During the raids, even his children witnessed authorities entering their home in a shocking manner, raising doubts among the public about his integrity,” he said.
Recalling the challenges during incarceration, Bharadwaj said, “In prison, even Arvind Kejriwal’s diabetes medicine was stopped. Officials like L-G VK Saxena monitored his personal meals, even counting what he ate on Ashtami.”
Senior AAP leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Atishi welcomed the judgment, calling it a victory of truth. “Today’s historic judgment proves that ultimately truth triumphs, and it strengthens the faith of ordinary citizens in our judiciary. The BJP and Central Government agencies had hatched a political conspiracy to eliminate the AAP, levelling false allegations without concrete evidence. Today, the court has exposed these lies,” she said.
Atishi further recalled the difficult days for the party, saying “Leaders were picked up from their homes and sent to jail. Manish Sisodia’s wife was in hospital, and Sanjay Singh’s elderly parents were in distress, still they were kept behind the bars. Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia are ‘kattar imaandar’ leaders, and the AAP is a ‘kattar imaandar’ party. This court decision validates that agencies were misused for political vendetta.”
AAP MP Sanjay Singh echoed the sentiment, saying, “This is a big verdict. PM Modi and Amit Shah defamed an honest man, Arvind Kejriwal, and Manish Sisodia. We repeatedly asked the CBI to provide proof of cash, gold or any assets, but they couldn’t. This case was baseless and politically motivated. PM Modi should apologise to the nation and to Arvind Kejriwal.”
