The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit being held in Delhi is a strong reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India vision and marks a significant milestone in the country’s technological journey, said Chandni Chowk MP and Secretary General of the Confederation of All-India Traders (CAIT) Praveen Khandelwal on Tuesday.

Khandelwal said the summit presented a comprehensive overview of how AI is being effectively deployed across sectors such as industry, trade, healthcare, education, agriculture, finance, logistics and governance to accelerate sustainable and inclusive growth.

“An overall assessment of the summit clearly indicates that the future belongs to technology, irrespective of the sector,” he said.

Highlighting the government’s digital push, Khandelwal said India’s digital revolution began with the launch of the Digital India programme on July 1, 2015, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

“Today, India is playing a leading role in the global AI landscape. By promoting innovation, startups and indigenous technologies, AI has emerged as a powerful tool for inclusive development,” he said.

He said traders and businesses across the country must now integrate AI into their existing business models to remain competitive.

“Sustainable growth in trade will increasingly depend on technological adoption,” he said, urging the MSME sector to leverage AI-driven solutions for productivity and efficiency.

According to Khandelwal, the summit highlighted the evolving digital ecosystem with a focus on data-driven decision-making, automation, ethical AI, cybersecurity and skill development. He said AI can significantly boost MSME productivity, enable precision agriculture, make healthcare more affordable and accessible, promote personalised learning in education and enhance transparency in governance.

Stating that India possesses immense talent, a robust digital public infrastructure and a thriving culture of innovation, Khandelwal expressed confidence that with the right policy support and investments, the country can ensure responsible AI adoption. “India can accelerate economic growth while strengthening its position as a trusted global AI hub,” he said.
