The sub-contractor, identified as Rajesh Prajapati, who is currently in police custody, is being interrogated. Investigations revealed that he was informed about the mishap hours earlier, but failed to take any action, the police said.

According to officials, technical surveillance and witness statements indicate that an eyewitness, Vipin Singh from Rohini, saw that a motorcycle had fallen into the ditch. He immediately alerted a security guard deployed at the site and a person living in a nearby tent.

The security guard, who was employed by Prajapati, informed a junior staff member the same night that a person had fallen into the pit. The junior staff member then called Prajapati around 12:22 am and asked him to reach the spot.

The police said Prajapati later arrived at the site and noticed a motorcycle inside the pit but did not check further or took steps to rescue the victim or inform the authorities.
