Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Devender Yadav on Tuesday slammed the BJP-led Delhi government, accusing it of failing to fulfil its key election promises, including free cooking gas cylinders before Holi and subsidised LPG cylinders for Rs 500 to women.

Yadav said the BJP, which came to power on the promise of providing economic relief to Delhi residents, had remained silent on crucial welfare measures, including transferring Rs 2,500 into women’s bank accounts by March 8, which the party had promised ahead of International Women’s Day.

“The BJP government has betrayed Delhi’s women. Instead of fulfilling its promise, CM Rekha Gupta merely announced at Nehru Stadium that a committee would be formed to study the formalities of providing the honorarium. This is nothing, but a delayed tactic,” Yadav said.

The Congress leader further accused the BJP of double standards, comparing it to the previous AAP government. “The Rekha Gupta government is no different from AAP, which made grand promises before elections and deceived voters later. The BJP is following the same path,” he added.

Yadav also targeted the government over the CAG reports, alleging that the BJP was avoiding scrutiny of corruption allegations it had previously raised against the AAP government.

“During the election campaign, BJP leaders aggressively targeted the Kejriwal government over the liquor scam and the misuse of public funds in ‘Sheesh Mahal’. They promised to table all 14 CAG reports in the very first Assembly session. So far, they have only tabled two reports.

The remaining reports are not even on the agenda for the upcoming five-day Budget session from March 24 to 28,” Yadav said.
