The BJP and AAP leaders clashed verbally forcing Speaker Ram Niwas Goel to briefly adjourn the proceedings of the Delhi Assembly on Thursday. BJP leaders protested by conducting a mock Parliament outside the Assembly to raise public issues.

The disruption unfolded after BJP leaders objected to the list of issues to be raised in the House, demanding that their concerns also should be addressed.

As tensions escalated, both sides began shouting slogans against each other, prompting the Speaker to adjourn the session for 15 minutes.

The situation intensified when BJP MLAs protested in the well of the House, demanding the tabling of pending Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports. The Speaker then ordered the marshals to remove the BJP members from the Assembly.

The demand for the CAG reports comes after Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena’s office on Wednesday directed Delhi’s Chief Secretary Dharmendra and Finance Secretary Ashish Chandra Verma to present 12 pending reports from 2020-2021. These reports have remained with the Delhi government for an extended period, BJP leaders alleged.

BJP’s Om Prakash Sharma, referring to the situation, said, “We demand that the CAG report should be tabled.”
