BJP leaders said, “Referring to Minister of State Sardar Ravneet Singh Bittu as a ‘traitor’ by Rahul Gandhi is condemnable and objectionable. This remark is not only a personal insult but also a serious assault on the sentiments of the Sikh community.”

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said political disagreement must be expressed with dignity. “Rahul Gandhi may feel aggrieved by Ravneet Singh Bittu’s decision to leave the Congress party. However, even disagreement must be expressed using democratic, dignified and restrained language,” he said.

Pointing out contradictions, Puri added,“On the one hand, a person was called a ‘traitor’, and on the other hand, it was also said that he would return. If someone is being called a traitor, how can there be any talk of his return? This is not merely a matter of words, but a matter of mindset.”

BJP national spokesperson RP Singh accused Rahul Gandhi of spreading misinformation abroad. “Rahul Gandhi makes false and misleading claims abroad that Sikhs in India are treated like second-class citizens. Such statements are attempts to defame the country and divide society,” he said.

Raising further questions, he added, “Those who today distribute certificates of ‘traitor’ should be asked, what agreement was made with the Communist Party of China? When will the complete details of the funds received by the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation from China be placed before the country?”

Delhi BJP MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely alleged a feudal mindset in Congress leadership. “Some people are still living with a feudal mindset. One family considers itself the owner of the country and treats dissent as treason. The Congress and Rahul Gandhi have not been able to come out of this mindset even today,” he said. He further remarked, “Earlier people used to say that this person is not fit for politics, but now the country will accept that he is not even fit to be a Member of Parliament or to uphold the dignity of the House. A person who targets an entire community should have no place in Parliament.”

Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa recalled past atrocities against Sikhs and blamed the Congress. “Sacred places of a patriotic and brave community like the Sikhs were attacked, people were burnt alive and humiliated. If there are any traitors in the country, it is the Gandhi family,” he said. He further alleged, “Rahul Gandhi himself had said that when his grandmother passed away, he felt a lot of anger and wanted to do something, in the same way, even today he is suppressing sin and poison within himself.”

BJP leaders asserted that such remarks insulted Sikh sacrifices, undermined national unity and are unacceptable in a democracy.
