The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of orchestrating “operation lotus” in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) through a proxy outfit — Indraprastha Vikas Party (IVP).

Delhi AAP president Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the BJP engineered defections from AAP to create the IVP, but failed to win even a single seat in the recent zonal elections.

Bharadwaj claimed that the BJP expelled its own Rohini zone councillor, Suman “Tinku” Rajora, simply because she refused to vote for the IVP’s Chairperson candidate.

He claimed that the move confirmed BJP’s direct link to the IVP, describing the latter as “a mask created to escape blame” for manipulating elected representatives.

“BJP’s so-called cover-up has collapsed. They tried to use IVP to avoid accountability, but the plan boomeranged when their candidates were defeated across zones,” Bharadwaj said.
