Cabinet nods to solar rooftops, NGO aids, grants for war widows

NEW DELHI:The Delhi Cabinet today approved a slew of proposals, including Department of Power’s proposal for Mukhyamantri Solar Power Scheme for rooftops of domestic consumers of group housing societies.

The Delhi Cabinet today approved a slew of proposals, including Department of Power’s proposal for Mukhyamantri Solar Power Scheme for rooftops of domestic consumers of group housing societies. The Social Welfare Department’s approved financial aid to NGOs for marking birth and death anniversaries of B R Ambedkar, Sant Ravidas and Maharishi Balmiki in form of arrangement of tentage, sound system, lighting and banners as they worked for promoting social justice, removal of inequality and discrimination in society.

Going by a released statement, assistance under the scheme, for marking birth or death anniversaries of great personalities, is provided to the desirous registered NGOs and arrangements for marking the events will be done through the empanelled agencies of the revenue department at the approved rates. 

Applications of the NGOs duly recommended by area MLA will be considered by the committee under the chairmanship of the welfare of SC/ST minister, it added.

The scheme would work on similar patterns that are being followed in Kanwar Yatra Seva Shivir, Chhatth Puja, Uttrayani Mela and other such socio-cultural events celebrated by the people of Delhi which showcase and celebrate unity in diversity as enshrined in the Constitution, it said.

The cabinet, chaired by Delhi chief minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal, also approved a proposal of the Department of Revenue for amendment in the scheme for grant of ex-gratia payment to war widows, war disabled, prisoners of war/ missing person in war/ operation/ Delhi Police personnel/ home guards etc and families of those who lose their lives in defined uniformed services during the course of duty.

Decisions regarding enhancement of monthly remuneration of contractual engagements under the Delhi State Health Mission (DSHM) were also taken in today’s meeting. With an additional budgetary allocation of Rs 9.75 crore, the enhancement will be applicable from April 1, 2017.
