The rise in temperature reflects an early warming trend in the region. Weather man Mahesh Palawat said that the Capital had already experienced unusually high temperatures a day earlier as well.

In a post on X, Palawat said, “Delhi recorded a maximum of 35.7 degrees Celsius on March 7, which is 7.3 degrees above normal. It is the first time in the last 15 years that the temperature has crossed the 35 degrees mark during the first week of March.”

He further noted that light winds and bright sunshine are likely to push temperatures even higher in the coming days.

Meteorologists attribute the early spike in temperature to clear skies, dry atmospheric conditions and the absence of strong western disturbances, which typically bring cloud cover or rainfall during this period.

Along with the rising heat, air quality in the Capital remained in the ‘poor’ category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 247 on Sunday.
