The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Monday withdrew the restrictions imposed under Stage-I of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi-NCR following a marked improvement in the capital’s air quality.

The decision was taken after reviewing the latest air quality data, which indicated that Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) has improved to around 119, placing it in the “moderate” category (101-200) and moving out of the “poor” category (201-300) that triggers Stage-I measures.

CAQM attributed the improvement largely to favourable meteorological conditions, including recent light rainfall and better wind movement, which helped disperse pollutants across the National Capital Region.

With the revocation of Stage-I, precautionary restrictions imposed under the anti-pollution framework have been lifted.

These measures typically include intensified mechanised road sweeping, water sprinkling to control dust, strict monitoring of construction and demolition activities, and advisories aimed at reducing vehicular emissions.

Authorities, however, emphasised that monitoring will continue and routine pollution-control measures will remain in place to prevent any deterioration in air quality. The CAQM has advised all agencies concerned to remain prepared to respond swiftly if pollution levels rise again.
