Case property destroyed as fire engulfs 'malkhana' of New Ashok Nagar police station in East Delhi, none injured
8 fire tenders rushed to spot after emergency call received around 1 pm; preliminary inquiry points to parked vehicles as possible source of the blaze
A fire broke out in the ‘malkhana’ parking area of the New Ashok Nagar police station in East Delhi on Tuesday afternoon, triggering a swift response from the Delhi Fire Services and local police staff.
According to officials, the Delhi Fire Services received a call regarding the incident at around 1.06 pm. Following the alert, eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot and firefighting operations were initiated.
Police said the fire was first noticed at around 1 pm in the lawn and ‘malkhana’ parking area of the police station, where case property vehicles were parked. Soon after spotting the flames, the police station staff used available fire safety resources, including fire extinguishers and water from the overhead tank installed within the premises, to contain the blaze before the arrival of fire personnel.
Fire department teams subsequently carried out extensive firefighting operations and managed to completely douse the flames by around 2.20 pm.
As per a preliminary inquiry, the fire is suspected to have originated from vehicles kept as case property in the ‘malkhana’ parking area.
Officials confirmed that no injuries or loss of life were reported in the incident.
