The Centre has approved 28 infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,647 crore proposed by the Delhi Government under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme, while also sanctioning an additional Rs 756 crore incentive for the national capital in recognition of its increased capital expenditure, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Sunday.

According to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), the approved projects include key infrastructure works such as Delhi Metro expansion projects, the Barapulla Elevated Corridor, the Karawal Nagar Flyover, EV charging stations at DTC depots, and several road development projects aimed at improving connectivity and public transport infrastructure across the city.

Gupta described the approval as a major boost for Delhi's infrastructure, saying it would accelerate development works and improve public facilities for residents. She said the projects would strengthen the Capital's transport network while enhancing road infrastructure and urban amenities.

The Chief Minister said the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme provides states and Union Territories with interest-free financial assistance for capital projects while also incentivising reforms and higher capital expenditure. She added that her government had prioritised securing approval under the scheme since assuming office.

According to the CMO, the Centre approved all 28 proposals submitted by the Delhi Government on July 9, reflecting confidence in the government's reform agenda, financial discipline and project implementation capacity.

Apart from the project approvals, the Centre has also sanctioned an additional incentive of Rs 756 crore after recognising Delhi's increase in capital expenditure through its own resources. The state government said the Finance Department had been tasked with coordinating with all implementing agencies to ensure that the projects were completed on schedule.

Gupta credited the approvals to the Centre's focus on infrastructure-led development under the “Viksit Bharat” vision, saying the financial assistance and incentive would help fast-track key public infrastructure projects and contribute to Delhi's long-term urban development.
