New Delhi, January 21

Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Dev tonday lauded the work done by the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and assured that the issue of space crunch will be addressed soon.

Dev, who visited the DCW office, the first CS to visit, also assured that steps shall be taken to streamline the working relation of the police and the commission.

He assured full cooperation and stated that additional space shall be provided to the DCW on priority.

The assurance came after DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal apprised the former of issues faced by the commission, including severe space crunch and shortage of staff.

She informed that due to space constraints in the office, there is severe overcrowding of complainants — something also observed by the CS, who was accompanied by Women and Child Development Secretary Rashmi Krishnan.

Last week, Maliwal had called on the CS who had expressed his desire to visit and observe the DCW’s work.

He interacted with DCW’s various project staff and appreciated their work.

During the visit, DCW members Promila Gupta, Kiran Negi, Vandana Singh and Firdos Khan were also present, besides PP Dhal, member secretary and Rajmangal Prasad, DCW adviser.

Maliwal also apprised him of the DCW’s work in past three and half years.
