The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has intensified civic preparations ahead of the India-AI Impact Summit 2026, with senior officials conducting on-ground inspections of key routes and public spaces in central Delhi.
Shashvat Saurabh, Deputy Commissioner of MCD’s Central Zone and nodal officer for the summit, on Thursday carried out a comprehensive review of major stretches, including Satyagrah Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and Lodhi Road, along with other important arterial roads connected to summit venues and hotels.
During the inspection, Saurabh assessed sanitation, road conditions and civic infrastructure and issued directions to ensure high standards of cleanliness across summit-related routes, public spaces, markets and heritage sites. He stressed the need for enhanced beautification, functional street lighting, and well-maintained public toilets to present a cleaner and more orderly city ahead of the international event.
Officials were instructed to prioritise maintenance of roads, footpaths, pavements and drains, and to take strict action against encroachments, illegal hoardings, stray cattle and unauthorised vendors along major thoroughfares. The Deputy Commissioner also emphasised regular garbage lifting, prevention of open dumping and round-the-clock sanitation monitoring.
