Notably, the Delhi Police had earlier filed a charge sheet against the accused - Sakariya Rajesh Bhai Khimji and Syed Tahsin Raza - in this regard. November 10 has been fixed as the next date of hearing.
An FIR was registered at the Civil Lines police station after the alleged attack on CM Rekha Gupta during a Jan Sunvai at her official residence on August 20. Further proceedings will take place before the sessions court.
Earlier on October 30, the court had sought a medical report from the Tihar Jail authorities on a plea of the accused, Sakariya Rajesh Bhai Khimji. He had prayed for medical intervention as he was suffering from headache due to eyesight problems. Advocate Pradeep Khatri, along with advocate Sahil, appeared for Sakariya Rajesh Bhai Khimji.
Meanwhile, Special Public Prosecutor (SP) Pradeep Rana appeared through video-conferencing along with advocate Kartik Caddi (physically) for Delhi State.
According to the charge sheet, the accused was upset with Delhi CM Rekha Gupta’s stance regarding the Supreme Court’s decision on stray dogs. In its August 11 decision, the Supreme Court had directed that stray dogs be relocated to shelter homes. Rekha had strongly supported this decision.
According to the police, angered by this, Rajesh Khimji attacked CM Rekha while she was conducting a public hearing at her official residence in Civil Lines.
