In a major relief to thousands of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) employees and pensioners, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has approved a grant of Rs 1,200 crore for the corporation, ensuring timely payment of salaries and pensions while also boosting transport modernisation and traffic management initiatives in the Capital.According to officials, out of the total amount released by the Finance Department, Rs 1,100 crore has been earmarked for the payment of salaries, pensions and other statutory dues of the DTC employees and pensioners. The remaining Rs 100 crore has been allocated for transport modernisation, including the adoption of advanced technologies aimed at improving traffic movement and promoting sustainable urban mobility.Announcing the decision, the Chief Minister underlined the government’s commitment to employee welfare, stating, “Our government respects senior pensioners and current employees.” She said that DTC staff work tirelessly under challenging conditions to keep Delhi moving, and the government has ensured that both serving employees and senior pensioners do not face delays in receiving their rightful dues.

These include the implementation of an Advanced Traffic System (ATS) to improve traffic flow through modern technology, and the development of commercial electric vehicle charging infrastructure under the Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI).

Reiterating the government’s long-term vision for the Capital, the Chief Minister said that these measures are aligned with the goal of making Delhi a technology-driven, pollution-free city with safe, efficient and world class public transport facilities.
