The Chief Minister noted that mist spray systems had already been installed on major roads and at 143 elevated Metro stations across the city. Additionally, real-time air quality monitoring had been expanded to 46 Metro stations, which she described as the largest such network in any city in the country. Under the ‘Vayu Rakshak’ initiative, stricter enforcement of pollution control norms is also being ensured.

Calling IGI Airport as one of the busiest airports in the region, Gupta said its is expected to cross 100 million passenger mark in the coming years, potentially making it the world’s fifth-largest airport. She said the installation of mist systems would improve air quality at the airport and enhance Delhi’s environmental image. The system is expected to be expanded to 600 poles in the future to strengthen dust control in and around the airport premises.

Outlining future plans, Gupta said the government aims to fully electrify Delhi’s public bus fleet by 2029, expand Metro network, strengthen EV charging infrastructure, deploy over 1,000 water sprinklers and implement AI-based dust monitoring at construction sites.
