Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s advisor VK Jain, who had stated that he witnessed the assault on city Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash during a meeting at Kejriwal’s residence, has resigned citing personal reasons and family commitments.

Jain, who was questioned by police in connection with the alleged assault on the CS, submitted his resignation in the CM’s Office and sent a copy to the Lt Governor.

The retired bureaucrat was appointed advisor to Kejriwal soon after he had retired as the CEO of the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board in August last year. The board is chaired by Arvind Kejriwal.

Jain had not been coming to the office since the incident at the CM's residence in the intervening night of February 19-20 and had proceeded on a week-long medical leave.

As per the Delhi Police, Jain had shared during interrogation that AAP MLAs Prakash Jarwal and Amanatullah Khan surrounded the CS and he saw them beating him at Kejriwal’s residence.

But Jain had earlier said that he did not see anything as he had gone to the washroom at the time of the incident.
