Cong, BJP condemn former Chief Minister’s job promise
The Congress and the BJP have criticised former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s recent promise to create new employment opportunities in the city, claiming that his record over the past decade proves his inability to address this issue.
Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav responded to Kejriwal’s pledge to end unemployment in Delhi within five years by pointing out the AAP government’s failure to tackle the issue during its 10-year tenure.
“Kejriwal was in power for the last 10 years, why didn’t he address the issue of job creation? Today, unemployment is at its peak, inflation is at its peak, pollution is at its peak, and corruption is at its peak. The Yamuna river is dirty. These are the issues they should have focused on,” Yadav said, accusing both the AAP and BJP governments of prioritising their personal gains over the needs of Delhi residents.
Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, BJP MP from South Delhi, also condemned Kejriwal’s promise, calling it another hollow statement. Bidhuri reminded Kejriwal of his previous promises, including the 2022 announcement that 20 lakh jobs would be created within five years.
“Not even 20 jobs were given. Instead, Kejriwal took away the jobs of 10,000 civil defence volunteers,” Bidhuri said. He also criticised Kejriwal for failing to make guest teachers and contractual employees in Delhi government departments permanent, despite previous assurances.
Bidhuri further accuses Kejriwal of repeatedly making promises that were never fulfilled. “How do you lie so much? And how many more lies will you tell?” he questioned, adding that Kejriwal’s “pot of lies is now full and will burst on February 5”.
