Delhi Congress workers staged protests outside cooking gas agencies across the city on Thursday, alleging shortage of LPG cylinders and steep price hike.

The protests were held across 258 Block Congress Committees in 14 districts of the Capital on the directions of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Devender Yadav.

Yadav said the rising cost of cooking gas and inflation was putting an unbearable burden on common households. He alleged that despite government claims of adequate fuel availability, long queues outside gas agencies indicated a shortage.

“If there is no fuel shortage in the country, why there are long queues outside gas agencies? Why are cylinders being sold in black for up to Rs 3,000?” Yadav asked while addressing party workers, referring to claims made by the BJP Government stating that there is no shortage of gas cylinders.

A protest was also held near a gas distribution depot at Aram Bagh on Rani Jhansi Road where Congress leaders and workers marched from Ambedkar Bhawan.

Protesters carried placards demanding reduction in cooking gas prices and relief from rising inflation. Party leaders urged the government to immediately reduce prices, ensure adequate supply and take action against black marketing of LPG cylinders.
